Living Our Way to a Better PlanetBy Kimberly Jonas

Here we are. On the verge of another New Year. Closing yet another decade. And yet, so much more is happening than the simple passage of time. The planet that we live on is vibrating with insistence. Natural disasters are becoming more common, the fear of governments and warring factions becoming more palpable, our world systems for “order” and “control” constantly on the verge of collapse. All asking us to get clear as to whether or not we want to stand bravely in the face of this great quaking, or whether we will choose to fall asleep and let others handle it all.
A new paradigm is being requested. Over loud speakers. In no uncertain terms, we are being asked to pay attention and make some serious changes. We can choose to continue applying Band-aids, as the ruptures get larger and larger, or we can dig deep into the wounds and clear the way for more healthy ways of living.
Across the globe, there are countless labels for and media reports about what is happening on our planet. And yet, to me, this is not about making time to come up with more labels or to talk more about it. The time is now for us to live this experience. To nod to the messages being sent to us, that ask us to do things differently – getting fired from a job, being handed divorce papers, experiencing the death of a loved one – and actually do them differently. For us to have the courage to slow down, to listen, to insist on greater authenticity and presence in all aspects of our lives, with an underlying faith that our personal choices will absolutely ripple out to the greater map of humanity.
Thankfully, I am blessed to witness and experience unwavering commitment to this way of life, every day. In my private practice, I speak to men and women that realize the import that their life choices have in the greater scheme of things. During BodyMantra explorations, I watch as members of the community dive deep into the primal wisdom of the body that reaches far beyond anything that we can learn in books. These are the people that inspire me to snap out of any sleepiness that arises and wake up to the power of a life fully and intentionally lived.
As we step into 2010, I invite you to step into that which terrifies you about living more authentically. To unabashedly seek the most truthful and real version of yourself. To accept nothing less than the multi-dimensional experiences you are meant to have, even if that means walking through landscapes of great fear and grief. These are the choices that will not only lead to great self-knowing and healing, but will, in no uncertain terms, let our dear Planet Earth know that her messages are being received and tended.
