To Blog or Not To BlogBy Kimberly Jonas

I’ve resisted. I’ve rolled my eyes. I’ve done everything imaginable to ensure that The Dreaded Blog never crept into my life. And then I read a blog entry by Dr. Wayne Dyer and changed my mind instantly. I don’t even remember now what the specific content was, but I do remember that it was directed, to the point, and relevant to my life. He wasn’t telling me what toothpaste he used that morning or what he was having for dinner that night. He was challenging me to consider my mindset about something. Something important to me.
At that moment, it dawned on me: Blogging has as many uses as it does users. It’s our intention that determines where the blog takes us.
And so I have started blogging. Challenging myself to write about topics that stem from daily life experience, from the unfolding that I witness in clients and students alike, and that feel applicable to this notion of cultivating presence. I often speak about the cultivation of presence as being a practice. It’s not something that we master and move away from, but rather attend to on a daily basis with care and directed intention. We bolster and deepen into this practice through personal reflection and conscious attention to our behaviors and moment-to-moment choices.
And this is the very practice that I hope to inspire and support through my blog. Asking you to consider various facets of your life through diverse lenses. Challenging yourself to invoke this process as a daily practice. Sharing your revelations and musings with one another. Making choices in the Blogosphere that serve, rather than diminish, your personal presence in the world.
Thank you for reading… and for giving the blog a chance.
